Our Mission

We serve where the need is greatest, offering health care that changes lives and reminds people they are deeply valued and loved by God.

About Us

In a world where healthcare often neglects the whole person, Beacon Christian Community Health Center is leading the charge to change that. Founders Dr. David and Dr. Janet Kim infuse their faith into their work. They provide whole-person care that embraces all aspects of health: physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual.

Located in Staten Island, Beacon proudly holds the distinction of being New York State’s first faith-based, federally certified nonprofit health center. Since its opening in 1993, Beacon has faced many challenges. It has overcome political hurdles and resource limits. Yet, it is now a vital lifeline for the community.

The center initially served patients with barriers to health care. Within two years, it had nearly 2,000 patients, proving its essential role in the community. During crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, Beacon stayed open. It continues to be a critical frontline responder in the community.

Too often, healthcare systems reduce people to statistics. Their value is in the bottom line. Beacon is different. It stands out as a compassionate ally for its patients. With a focus on genuine relationships and understanding, their only agenda is the patient’s best interest. Providers take the time to connect with each unique individual. They help them navigate their complex needs—whether that means specialty care, spiritual support, or access to essential resources.

Beacon’s unique blend of quality and caring health care creates a place where healing and hope thrive. In every interaction, they share God’s love. They remind every person of their worth as whole people.
